Jaldapara is an area surrounded by tall elephant grasses with river streams, banks, woods and mixed deciduous forest. This area was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1941 for the protection of one-horned rhinoceros which is an endangered species facing the threat of extinction. A variety of mammals, amphibians, birds, reptiles and other residents reside here in the forest area where rivers like Torsha and Malangi flows by. Jaldapara received the ‘National Park’ status from the Union Ministry in the year 2012.
