Lamahatta is an eco-tourism spot developed recently in late 2012. It is located about 23
kilometers from the main town of Darjeeling surrounded by pine and dhupi forests with views of
rivers and hill peaks all around. Located at an altitude of 6800 feet, Lamahatta is a place predominantly inhabited by Sherpas, Bhutias, Tamangs, Yalmos and Dukpas who maintain the environment and ensure the biodiversity of this small village retains its originality.

Places to See Around - The places to see around Lamahatta are :
- There is a beautiful garden, which is maintained by the locals. The garden has prayer flags, watchtower, and shades to sit and enjoy the view. On any clear day, Kanchenjunga Mountains, hills of Sikkim and Darjeeling, River Teesta and Rangit can be seen from here.
- Glenburn Tea estate, Takdah tea estates are just a few kilometres away from this unexplored and peaceful village.
- Peshoke Viewpoint is about eight kilometres from here where the confluence of Rivers Teesta and Rangit can be seen.
- There is a small lake located on a hilltop which is considered cared by the local villagers. It takes just a short trek of 20 minutes to the lake, but the path is a confusing one so make
sure you are taking a local guide with you.
- There is also a cave temple just two kilometres from the village, and a 500-year-old Buddhist monastery, which is 20 minutes walk from the Lamahatta village.
